Salem Strobist:

Salem Strobist is a group of photography "buffs" which contain beginners, amateurs, hobbiest, and professionals in the Salem area which get together on a monthly basis to discuss and try various techniques regarding off camera flash, strobes, and other photography lighting (and non-lighting) subjects.

How Salem Oregon Strobist Got Started

Salem Oregon Strobist was started in April of 2009 when three local photographers, Nathan Smith of Smith Fine Art, Les Defoor of F2 Photgraphy and Michael Conkey of Nine22 Photography decided to there was a very strong interested in off camera lighting in the Salem Area. Drawing inspiration from David Hobby's website www.strobist.com and with support from local business and help from other Strobist groups like; Strobist group,  PDX Strobist and Eugene Strobist the treo put together the first known educational, off camera flash get together in Salem.
